So, they want to date?

Dating Manual - For Parents

Wow, doesn’t time fly. That beautiful little baby that you have nurtured and cuddled is growing up. Your once little boy or girl is now taking interest in the opposite sex. You have tried to negotiate terms. You started with offering your expertise by picking their future mate for them, but that didn’t get anywhere, so you settled on setting an age when they could start dating, which is quickly approaching. You really have two options here. The first is to quickly negotiate a later age in which they could start dating, say… 31. If that doesn’t work, then you must take the second option which is to prepare your child, to the very best of your ability, to be ready for the dating experience.

After saying all of that, I must now say this. I am not convinced that dating is the best method of choosing a future spouse. However, society has made it very difficult to change the spouse selection process, so we must use this “dating” system and not allow it to use us!

In the following pages, I will share with you some key aspects in preparing your young person for dating. I will assume one foundational thing; you have instilled in your young person a desire to follow God. Without a desire to follow God, this information will be limited in the assistance it can provide. Everything that will be shared comes from a biblical perspective.

May God bless you in your efforts as you continue the challenging and most crucial task of equipping your child to be successful in the world of dating!

Sincerely,
